WHAT IS FBLA


FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) is the largest student business organization in the country with over 250,000 members. Membership in FBLA prepares students for "real world" professional experiences and is open to all students who are enrolled in a business or a business-related class at CMS. We have a busy year planned this year with many activities that provide the students with leadership skills, conferences, competitions, service projects, friendship, field trips and, most of all, success!

UPCOMING EVENTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS


The Science SOL for 8th graders going on the trip to Chicago will be taken TUESDAY, MAY 26 in Ms. Simmons or Ms. Sloss's room beginning at 1:00 pm.

ACTIVITIES


  • Our final FBLA meeting for the year will be held Tuesday, May 19. We will install new officers for the year 2009-10 at this meeting. The meeting will be from 3:00pm - 4:30pm.

  • A group of 38 students, teachers, and parents are going on a field trip to the windy city: CHICAGO May 27-29! There will be a mandatory meeting Monday, May 4 at 6:30pm to discuss the final details of the trip.

  • Twenty students attended the Spring Conference at Virginia Western Community College in Roanoke on Friday, March 6.

  • Twenty one 7th grade girls attended the Women in Computing Day at Virginia Tech's Computer Science Department on Friday, April 17, 2009. Click here or here to see pictures of the event.

  • We held our annual Salvation Army canned food drive early this year because the need was so great. Again, our school community came through with flying colors!

  • In October we went to Virginia Western Community College for our fall conference.

From our competitions this year...

  • On March 6 we took 21 students to our Spring Leadership Conference in Roanoke. Our chapter won 1st place for Largest Membership! We also had several winners in competitions. Congratulations to the following winners:

    • 1st place, Slide Show - Sarah Peters, Sarah Hodges, Ivy Lambert
    • 1st place, Career Exploration - Rebecca Potter
    • 1st place, Proofreading and Editing - Hannah Duff
