currently i'm working on figuring out what to do with weather data. so heres i gos with the scenarios:


is there a way to get overall conditions, e.g., sunny, cloudy, rainy, snowy, foggy...

daily.csv is uploaded every 20 minutes to java.cs.vt.edu (from BMS)
need to rename daily.csv to dailyBMS or something similar. also need to append datestamp to file name (to prevent overwriting old data). file is overwritten each day.

preliminary - current data reported (from 12 AM to 11:40 PM):
current time
wind direction
wind speed
wind gust
humidity
temperature
barometer
total rain
wind chill


we should ask someone who knows - what can we do with the data we have?


Basic Weather Reporting:
report current data at all four locations
  • some data displayed on a map - wind direction and speed, temperature
click on point and view detailed page

detailed page has all weather data listed above

weather reporting time period?

  • graphical representation: clouds, arrows for windspeed, et cetera. graphics could be bigger or smaller depending on the intensity of the weather phenomenon.
  • history? days, weeks, months?


Ideas:

  • weather prediction is an excellent lesson in scientific hypotheses -> generating a hypothesis, testing the hypothesis, et cetera.
