History Day at BMS

(click the "logo" to see schedules for the next few weeks)

History Day at BMS is in full swing. If your child is a participant, hopefully he/she has been sharing ideas and information about his/her project.

Make sure whatever topic is chosen, this years theme of Exploration, Encounter, Exchange, is woven into what type of project students choose to complete: exhibit, historical paper, performance, or documentary.

The History Day dates for this school year are as follows:

Blacksburg Middle School History Night:
Thursday, March 18 from 6:30-8:30PM
Students will set up projects and all parents and friends will have the opportunity to view and critique the projects. This is excellent practice for students before the real competition and to see what the others students have done. Many changes are often made at this time!

Students will be away from school the entire day and will need to be picked up from BMS between 3:30 and 4:00 that afternoon.
Students will need to bring a bag lunch and some extra money for a drink and to play games in the recreation center.

Virginia History Day:
Saturday, April 24 in Williamsburg
Students will leave Friday, April 23 around 10:00 AM and return Saturday April 24 around 9:00 PM

National History Day:
Sunday, June 13-17 2004
It is always held on the campus of the University of Maryland in College Park Maryland.
